Crocheting dish cloths

I have crocheted quite a number of dishcloths over the past few months. I rather enjoy it. I'm making them for Christmas gifts.I have a nice stack of them finished, I think I'm going to work on a project called "Dipped In Chocolate". They are half sqaure triangles in double pinks, browns, gold ,reds, really cute.I'll have to tell you who wrote the pattern later.
I have to figure out how to put pictures on here again.

California

I have been in West Covina, CA for fifteen days. Randy has been here working on a project in West Covina and Indianapolis since March. We have been trying different restaurants in the area every night. Did you know that Marie Calendar has a restaurant and bakery? Its very good>

I have crocheted three dish cloths and started a fourth. I have worked on some English paper piecing while being away from home. I bought the paper piecing supplies from Connecting Threads. Tumbler blocks and hexagons. It is a take along project. Almost every quilter I know has started or wants to start a Grandmothers Flower Garden.

I grew up in  in Hemet, California. We went to visit last weekend. It is in Southern CA and the road I lived on is even more rural now than it was 40 years ago.

Wednesday night we went to The Sew N Sew Quilt  and Brother Store in Glendora, CA. It is a cute little shop that has been there for a year. Of course, I found a few fat quarters. If you are ever able to visit you will like it and the shops around it.

I have been listening to books on my IPOD. I buy most of my books from Audible.com I can listen while I do handwork.

We leave to fly home in the morning and will be back in Indiana around midnight or so.

Projects done at Threads of time

I finished a few things and discovered that I don't much care for making pineapple blocks.
The fruit quilt (twin size) top is done, the camping quilt is ready for borders, and I finished two camping pillow cases to go with it. What a relaxing weekend. We brought most of our food and when out to eat only on Friday night. We went to Montana Mike Steak House. It was delicious as always. We had White Chicken Chilli on Saturday and left for home on Sunday. It's only an hour from Lafayette to Danville, IL. Not a bad ride at all.

Until next time!

Everyone has gone home

Carole left for home and my youngest sisiter, Lora, was here from Mesa, AZ. She stayed with each sister for one and a half days. We had a very nice visist although too short. She leaves for AZ in the wee hours of tomorrow.

Ruthie came over last week to help me with my new Empress longarm. The woman is amazing with her knowledge. I want to be just like her when I grow up. She helped get a quilt finished or so I thought. I had the backing up too high so it was too short. I was so mad at myself. Ruthie gave me a solution to the problem and it will look  lovely when it is done.

Thank you Ruthie!

Time Flies By

We have quite a bit of bad weather this year. Today, Tuesday it is only 11degrees outside. I took Truffles for a walk and it was just long enough for him to leave pee-mail and do his business.   I received an e-mail with pictures of North Dakota and our weather is nothing compared to theirs. The houses are almost completely covered.

I finished the next row for the row by row that I'm participating in with Common Threads. It is called Calico Spools from the www.quilterscache.com Marcia has great blocks and information.

I am sewing the binding down on a Quilt Of Valour http://www.qovf-um.org/ this is the site to find about this great project. I need to make a pillowcase and sew on a label and then mail it. I have made around ten QOV's.
I have a number 32 blocks made and on the design wall for a purple quilt for http://www.faithlafayette.org/voh/staff/vision_of_hope_staff.aspx. it is sponsored by Faith Baptist Church in Lafayette, IN  It will be the fourth quilt that I've made. Two finished and two works in progress. They are twin sized.

I have also sewed the binding on a Clown quilt that Ruthie http://threadsofmine.blogspot.com/ quilted for me for Christmas. The quilting is beautiful. The quilt is hand embroidered in a variegated thread in a chain stitch. Maybe I'll get some pictures posted soon.

I have been working on Ruthie's row for the row by row. Her rows are in blue and green batiks. It is Dresden plates. She is coming over today after work to help me with a few things, so I'll find out if she approves of the row or not.

I have come to the conclusion that I need a new computer. The one that I have is a real pain and slower than molasses. Randy told me a needed one and I told him that I didn't,  obviously I was wrong.
I have to close this for now, maybe more later.

New Grandson

I now have a new grandson born December 27, 2011. He is absolutely adorable. He has a head full of  dark hair and blue eyes.
Now, we have three grandsons 15 (almost 16), 15 months, and 2 weeks.

A grandaughter 11 months old. They belong to our oldest and youngest sons.
I love being a grandma. It's the simple things that take your breath away.

I hope you come back and vist my blog. Maybe I'll even post some pictures.

Lost In Blog Land

For some unknown reason my previous blogging went away. I spent hours trying to find it and post on it.
I called Ruthie for her help (she is way more computer savy than moi). So, consider this my first blog of the year.

Don't I look cute as a toddler? That is the new me for the time being.

I finished a row from my guilds Row By Row. It turnd out nicely if I do say so myself. It will be a Purdue quilt when it is done. The block is an 8 1/2 " called Whirligigs, it is from a book  by Kim Diehl : Simple Comforts 12 Cozy Lap Quilts. We exchange rows once a month before guild. I have yet to see any done for me. Hopefully this month. They are to be finished by Septemer 2011.

I started a Lasagna quilt this week. It is now a big pile o fabric laying on my sewing table. It will be Camping quilt or two when I'm finished with it for Toby and Ashley and family.
